#plantbasedprofile: CCs Vegan Spot

After years away, I boomeranged back to my hometown in St. Louis County. Hoping that this area best known for its bbq rib stylings had adopted a taste bud or 2 for more veggie friendly diet options, I set out to find my new “go-to restaurants” for tasty plant based food.

A quick online search brought me to a vegan counter service less than 10 mins away in Alton, IL: CC’s Vegan Spot (open Thursday through Saturday) serves the casual American fare: burgers, chili cheese fries, sandwich wraps, etc. with a vegan twist!

This family owned restaurant is a hidden gem located in south St. Louis.

Normally there’s space for a dine in experience however since CoViD is still happening 🤪... their takeout will suffice! On my first outing, I had the “Ish Bites”, a yummy soy-based version of fish cakes, with fries. The fishless patties were seasoned to perfection, and the fries were crisp and peppery, cajun-style! I give the dish 4 out 5 chefs' kisses. My 2nd time there gave me the best veggie burger I’ve had so far in my 3 years of vegan living! This slice of vegan heaven is called the “Brinjal Burger” This burger’s crispy eggplant patty melded perfectly with its kale and tomato toppings. I got the fries again and was once again not disappointed by their homemade seasoned goodness. This meal gets 5 out of 5 chefs' kisses!

If you’re looking for a sweet treat CC’s has you covered! I’m recommending their “Strawberry Colada” flavored Icee.

This dessert is a smooth sorbet with the icy crunch of a slushee. And it tastes just as delicious as it looks! This sweet treat gets 4 out of 5 chefs' kisses (only because I wish it came in a bigger cup size 😩).

Overall, I’m happy I can be a loyal customer to CC’s Vegan Spot. I enjoy every trip I make here and can’t wait to see which menu item I’ll love next.
